Audi speeding on wrong side of road hits bike in Ggm, 2 hurt
GURUGRAM: Two men were injured severely after a speeding Audi car rammed their motorbike on Friday night at the Ghata junction, one of the most accident-prone spots in the city.
The victims said the car’s driver was driving on the wrong side of the road and hit them head-on before driving away.
A case under Indian Penal Code sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life) and 427(mischief causing damage) was registered at the Sector 56 police station.
The car’s driver is yet to be identified, police said, adding that they are checking CCTV cameras for footage to identify the car’s registration number.
Police said that the victims, identified as Pankaj Gupta (24) and Pawan Kumar (26), have shared the last four digits of the car’s registration number.
“We are trying to get the details of all black Audi cars with similar last digits, registered in Gurugram and Delhi. Once we get them, the accused will be arrested,” Sector 56 station house officer Arvind Kumar said.
Complainant Pawan Kumar, who is recuperating in a private hospital in Delhi, said, “My friend Pankaj and I were returning home from our work place in Manesar around 11pm when the accident took place at the Ghata junction. We saw a speeding black coloured Audi car coming towards us and before we could react, it rammed into our bike.”
The 26-year-old received 46 stitches. He has a fractured nose and right leg. Gupta fractured his right leg and has suffered minor injuries on his head and chest.
Saturday’s accident was the second big accident caused by vehicles being driven recklessly on the wrong side of the road within a month’s time.
On May 6, an SUV speeding down the wrong lane of Golf Course Road smashed into a cab, leaving two dead and one critically injured.
