CHANDIGARH:HARYANA chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday described as “farmers’ biggest enemies” those who were misguiding the growers to dump vegetables and drain milk on the roads.

After interacting with the youth during an event named ‘Rozgar Prapt Yuvaon se Samvad’ held at Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak, Khattar, without naming anyone, said those who were misleading the farmers would not be spared.

“Those who are misguiding the farmers into doing so (dumping vegetables and milk on the roads) are their biggest enemies,” the chief minister said while responding to questions about the nationwide strike by the farmers. He said dumping crops and milk on the roads won’t help the farmers.

“Those who stop the farmers from bringing produce to the market and force them to throw them on the roads would be sternly dealt with”, he said, reiterating that farmers will never forgive those who are misguiding them.

The CM said that vegetables, fruits and milk were produced after tremendous hard work by the farmers and that these selfproclaimed leaders were destroying their hard work by throwing the produce on the roads.

He said the Haryana government has implemented the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme, irrigation schemes and electricity connection schemes for the welfare of farmers.

Apart from this, he said, the state government paid the farmers highest compensation for their crops damaged due to natural calamities or disasters.
