Abhay accuses CM of intimidating Karnal dy mayor
CHANDIGARH: Leader of the Opposition in Haryana assembly, Abhay Singh Chautala on Monday accused chief minister ML Khattar of intimidating Karnal deputy mayor Manoj Wadhwa.
Addressing a press conference here, the INLD leader said, “Wadhwa had contested the assembly election against the CM from Karnal . His brother, Sonu, committed suicide due to police pressure on Wadhwa family after registration of a false case against the family members, including Manoj. When Wadhwa raised his voice, the CM visited his Karnal residence and warned him of dire consequences if he continued to raise his voice against police and the government.”
Terming the charges baseless, media advisor to CM, Rajiv Jai said Abhay was pointlessly raking up the issue and giving it a political tinge. “The CM went to offer his condolences to the Wadhwa family. The case against Manoj pertained to accumulation of demonetised notes. The law is taking its course. There is no pressure from the government on police.”
The police suspecting it a murder after rape, registered a case under Section 6 of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act and 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against ‘unknown person’.
Talking to Hindustan Times , Yamunanagar superintendent (SP) Rajesh Kalia said, “We are investigating the case from the angle of murder after rape but as of now there is no clue about the accused.”
