TURBAN CREATES HISTORY

Apropos ‘Sikh soldier sports turban at Queen’s birthday ceremony’ (HT, June 10), it brings a feeling of satisfaction and honour to see a Sikh gentleman wearing a turban instead of the traditional bearskin hat in the annual parade to mark the Queen’s birthday. Guardsman Charanpreet Singh Lall has created history. Credit must go to the United Kingdom (UK) government and the Royal Palace authorities for upholding the spirit of democracy and giving freedom to all religions and faiths to follow respective rituals and traditions, while being in government service.
