FOOD SAFETY IN ‘LANGARS’

Apropos ‘10 Delhi gurudwaras implement food safety standards for ‘langar’’ (June 18), community kitchens in 10 major Delhi gurudwaras have implemented food safety and hygiene standards. From decades, gurudwaras have been serving free ‘langars’ in every part of India. Now they have taken this laudable step which reflects their consideration for people’s health. All gurudwaras across India should take cue from this initiative. In country like India where poor and unemployed people are dependent on gurudwaras to survive, government should also extend a helping hand to these organisations.
