Panipat SP Sangeeta Kalia transferred

KARNAL: Five days after Panipat superintendent of police (SP) Sangeeta Kalia skipped the second meeting of district grievances committee chaired by health minister Anil Vij, the IPS officer was transferred on Wednesday.

The minister had raised this issue in the last meeting on June 29, as the SP was not present to hear complaints related to the district police.

Kalia was among 8 IPC officers transferred on Wednesday and she has been posted as commandant, 1st IRB, Bhondsi (Gurugram). Manbir Singh, SP, vigilance bureau, Gurugram has now been posted as SP Panipat.

In November 2015, Vij had left a meeting of the district grievances committee in Fatehabad in a huff after a spat with Kalia, the then SP Fatehabad, who had refused to follow his order to leave the venue following heated exchanges between them over the alleged illegal sale of liquor in Fatehabad.

On April 25, the 2010-batch IPS officer was appointed as SP Panipat, where Vij is the chairman of the district grievances committee. But since she was transferred to Panipat, she did not attend any meeting chaired by Vij. The first meeting of the district grievances committee was scheduled on April 27, but it was cancelled for unknown reasons.

On last Friday, Kalia again skipped the meeting and there were about six complaints related to her office, which could not be addressed.
