KARNAL: A special squad of women police personnel will now ensure the safety and security of women in Karnal.

Donning a special blue uniform, the women cops will respond immediately to the complaints of crime against women.

They will also keep a vigil on all important locations, especially educational institutions, in three PCR vehicles.

Karnal superintendent of police Surender Bhoria, who flagged off the PCR vehicles on Monday, said the women cops were the part of ‘Durga Shakti’ app of Haryana Police launched by Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar last week in Panchkula.

The app will enable women to seek immediate police help in case of an emergency.

He said there was a company of rapid action squad which will respond immediately to the complaints registered on the android-based mobile application (app).

The SP appealed the Karnal women to download the app in their mobile phones to take the benefit of the initiative taken by the police for their safety.

He said through this app, the women could report to police about any crime against them along with their real-time location with help of this Gps-enabled app by pressing a red button on the app.

Bhoria said this app will help in curbing crime against women in the district.
