Two proclaimed offenders arrested

ACCUSED JASPAL SINGH AND SANDEEP KUMAR, RESIDENTS OF KURALI VILLAGE, WERE DECLARED OFFENDERS IN A 2012 ATTEMPT TO MURDER CASE

JALANDHAR: Two persons, including an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) block samiti member, who were proclaimed offenders in an attempt to murder case, were arrested here on Monday. The accused have been identified as Jaspal Singh, 55, and Sandeep Kumar , 35, both residents of Kurali village.

The police said an attempt to murder case was registered in December 2012 on the statement of Paramjit Singh of Kalyanpur village against 15 people of the village. In his first informatio­n report, Paramjit stated that his brother was attacked and was seriously injured by them.

The case had been registered against them under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 382(theft), 326 (causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons), 341 (wrongful restraint), 148 (armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of offence), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506 (criminal intimidati­on) and 195 (giving false evidence) of IPC at the Lambra police station.

Senior superinten­dent of police Navjot Singh Mahal said the two offenders were arrested by the Lambra police. He said Jaspal Singh is an AAP block samiti member from Kurali village. "Mangat Ram, Babbu, Jaspal Singh and Sandeep Kumar were declared offenders in May by a Jalandhar court. The remaining two offenders will also be nabbed soon,” said the SSP.
