THE 35YEAROLD VICTIM, IN HER COMPLAINT, CLAIMED THAT THE MAN RAPED HER SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST ONE YEAR

GURUGRAM:A Gurugram resident has been arrested for allegedly raping his 35-year-old live-in partner who complained that he sexually assaulted her repeatedly on the pretext of marrying her, police said.

The woman, in her complaint to the women police station, alleged that she met the accused on a matrimonial site in April 2017. She told him she was a divorcee, but he didn’t tell her that he had been divorced twice and had married again, police said, quoting the complaint.

The woman said in her complaint that she and the man first met in person on April 28 last year. She said he took her to a resort in Manesar and allegedly established “physical relations with her against her will”.

“He pretended to marry me by going round in circles in a temple in sector 31 when we first met. He had then promised to have a grand family function. He also introduced me to his family members but never formalised the marriage,” the complainant said.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex), 313 (causing miscarriage without woman’s consent), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

As per the complaint lodged by the woman, the man allegedly raped her on several occasions in the last one year.

She allegedly became pregnant but had to abort on September 23 last year in a private hospital in Delhi, police said.

“In her complaint, the woman also alleged that the man threatened her with dire consequences if she informed about the harassment, pregnancy, and abortion to anyone,” Poonam Hooda, inspector, women police station, said.
