4 more held for Karnal bank robbery in 2012
KARNAL: A day after Jind police arrested Anil Singhaniya from the district for his involvement in 2012 robbery at Canara Bank branch in Gharuanda of Karnal, the police arrested four more accused involved in the case on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Ravinder Ahlawat of Babail village of Panpat district; Naresh Saini of Gharaunda of Karnal; Lokesh of Safidon of Jind district and Kapil of Bambaheri village of Karnal.
Superintendent of police (SP) Surender Bhoria said the FIR in the bank robbery was registered in October 2012 but the case was untraced for the past six years. He said that the arrest of these accused helped the police to solve the case in which six people were involved whereas one accused Ankur of Panipat was already lodged in Ambala jail in another robbery case.
The arrest of Anil Singhania, a resident of Sigana village by the Jind police on Tuesday, helped the cops to get information about the other accused involved in the robbery.
He said that the police also recovered ₹2.30 lakh cash and two revolvers and live cartridges from their possession. He, however said that now the case has been solved and they have been booked under Section 395 and 397 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and will be produced in the court. He said the police will seek their remand for further interrogation.
