25-year-old held for ‘raping’ model after refusing to marry her

GURUGRAM : A man was arrested and sent to jail after a woman model in her early 20s, with whom he was in a relationsh­ip, accused him of raping her, on the pretext of marriage, the police said on Wednesday.

Vinod Kumar Yadav, SHO of Badshahpur police station, said that an FIR was registered under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidati­on) of the IPC.

The woman complained on Tuesday and the accused was arrested later in the day.

According to Yadav, the woman told the police that she was a model and lives at a rented accommodat­ion in Badshahpur, while the accused about 25 years old and a resident of Kadarpur.

The officer said that they were in a relationsh­ip for over two years and the woman decided to complain to the police after he allegedly refused to marry her.

Subhash Boken, spokespers­on for Gurugram police, said that the woman is from Uttar Pradesh and is a smalltime model and did not work for a particular firm.

Sumit Kuhar, the deputy commission­er of police (crime), said that the woman’s medical examinatio­n was done at Civil Hospital and her statement was recorded before a magistrate at a city court, under Section 164 of CRPC.

The accused was a mobile shop owner and on July 2, he allegedly beat the complainan­t at her accommodat­ion after she pressurise­d him to marry her, Kuhar said.

Kuhar said that the woman has also featured in videos of Haryanvi music albums.
