ROHTAK: All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) national president Yashpal Malik on Thursday threatened to launch a fresh agitation if any of their leaders was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the police.
Malik’s threat comes two days after his aide Pawan Hooda was nabbed by the CBI over the case of loot and arson at Haryana finance minister Captain Abhimanyu’s house in Rohtak during the February 2016 Jat reservation stir.
Notably, another aide of Malik, Ashok Balhara, faces arrest as he has been named by the CBI in its charge sheet submitted in the court.
Malik termed the arrest of Hooda and inclusion of Balhara’s name in charge sheet wrong and accused the premier agency of working at the behest of the government.
“The government wants to weaken the Jat stir by trying to intimidate us, but it does not know that such steps are only strengthening us more,” he said, while talking to the media after a meeting of the state committee of the AIJASS called to discuss the arrest of Hooda.
Malik said they will not hold anymore talks with the state government and maintained their agitation called from August 16 will continue as announced earlier if their demands were not met by then. “But if any more arrests are made, we will advance our agitation,” he said.
Malik had announced that from August 16, they will not let Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other ministers of his cabinet to hold events in Jat-dominated villages across Haryana.
Responding to media queries, he alleged that Captain Abhimanyu and agriculture minister OP Dhankar had hatched the entire conspiracy behind the February 2016 Jat stir to grab the chief minister’s post.
