NEWDELHI:A 17-year-old boy died on Wednesday after a few of his classmates and some other people allegedly thrashed him near a park adjacent to their school in northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar following personal enmity.

Police said there were no external injuries but he died on his way to the hospital. Police are waiting for the post -mortem reports. Two juveniles have been apprehended and a murder case registered.

The boy was a class XI student of a government school. According to police officers, a PCR call was received, saying a school student has been rushed to hospital after he fell unconscious following a violent scuffle between a group of students. When the police arrived at the spot, they found that the student had been rushed to a hospital, where the doctors pronounced him dead.

“Initial probe revealed the student had gone to his school to collect his transfer certificate. Following old enmity, a group of students from his class and some outsiders thrashed him in a nearby park. The boy fell uncon- scious after which the attackers fled from the spot,” said an officer.

Locals made a PCR call and alerted the school staff after which he was rushed to a hospital. His parents were informed.

Deputy commissioner of police (northeast), Atul Thakur said a case of murder had been registered and two juveniles, one of them a student of the same school, had been apprehended.

“We are yet to ascertain the reason behind the violence. It was some old flight between the students that led to another clash,” Thakur said.

Police are questioning the school staff to know the reasons that sparked the violence, leading to the student’s death. “The incident happened outside the school. There is a DDA park where this happened. The student who died was from class 11 and he was absent for two days. At least one person in the group that attacked him was from the school. This student was also from class 11 but from a different section and he was absent for around 15 days,” said the viceprincipal of the school.
