Gurugram gym trainer falls two storeys to death in fight over client

-

GURUGRAM: A 29-year-old personal trainer at a gym in EROS City Square mall in sector 49 of Gurugram died and another trainer was severely injured after they fell from the ground floor onto the basement while scuffling with each other on Wednesday night, police said.

Anil Tanwar, a resident of Mehrauli in Delhi, and his colleague, Gurugram resident Praveen Kumar, were leaving for home around 10pm when they started arguing. Although the police did not confirm the reason for the altercation, officials privy to the investigation said they were probing if the two could be fighting over incentives earned from training clients at the gym.

Police said Tanwar died on the spot from a head injury and multiple fractures. Kumar is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in sector 51 and is not in a position to record a statement, they said. “The two got into an argument after coming out of the Play Fitness gym. While the two were assaulting each other, they fell on the shaft door near stairs on the ground floor of the building and fell into basement 2 of the building,” said Inderjeet Singh, ACP (Sadar).

He said the security guards present in the basement rushed them to the hospital and also informed the police.

CCTV footage from the mall shows the two trainers walking down the stairs after leaving the gym on the first floor. The video shows them arguing with each other; the argument soon turns violent, Singh said.

“We are yet to find out what led to the brawl but we have registered the case against Parveen Kumar under section 304 (culpable homicide) and are further investigating the case. We have also taken the CCTV footage of the building where the entire sequence of the incident has been recorded,” Singh said.
