WOMAN ENDS LIFE OVER FATHER’S ‘AFFAIR’ IN TARN TARAN

TARN TARAN : A 30-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance at her maternal house at Goindwal Bypass in Tarn Taran on Thursday. The woman, identified as Ravinder Kaur of Maluwal Santan village, left a suicide note in which she alleged that she was upset over her father’s ‘illicit affair’ with a woman. Police have registered a case under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtheranc­e of common intention) of IPC against victim’s father Hardev Singh and his alleged paramour Jaswinder Kaur of Nanaksar locality in Tarn Taran. The deceased’s brother Bishan Singh said, “My sister was married and had been living happily with her husband and in-laws at Maluwal Santan village. She had come to our house on Wednesday. While sitting with our mother, she requested our father to end his illicit affair with Jaswinder Kaur.” In her suicide note, Ravinder said, “I am taking a poisonous drug as my father has been continuing his illicit affair with Jaswinder Kaur for the past five years. Due to his illicit relationsh­ip, my married life is being affected and my mother is miserable. We requested my father many times to stop this, but he didn’t listen to us. Now, I hope the police will take action against my father and his lover.” A case has been lodged said the ASI investigat­ing the case.
