CONGRATULATIONS TO HT

-

Apropos ‘Modern education with Vedic essence (HT Region’s oldest schools, August 6)’, the well-presented feature piece revived sweet memories of my alma mater, where I studied between 1971 and 1975. The institute also offered a good quality of life. The yoga I learnt there still has me in good stead. Indeed, it is due to institutions like these that Haryana has emerged as an educational hub with large chains of higher education institutions (universities and colleges) being set up. This is a necessary, but not sufficient development as there is some gap in infrastructure, including in manpower. To check this, we need to appoint vice-chancellors and faculty on merit. Communication skills need to be improved through language labs.

MM Goel, Kurukshetra feel that one’s economic position must be the deciding factor when it comes to reservation. Even Brahmins and other categories of people are fighting for reservations in jobs. As a nation, we must create enough jobs.

Ramesh K Dhiman,

Chandigarh economic. As things stand now, reservation has been reduced to a tool to attract votes.

Kamaljeet Malwa, Patiala an out-of-court settlement. The judicial system has been used to build pressure. The motive of the complainant was not justice.
