- HT Correspondent

HISAR: The Hawa Singh Sangwan faction of the All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) on Tuesday said they will not allow even a single BJP candidate to campaign in any village in the 2019 elections, if the government will not allow the community to hold Shaheedi Diwas (martyrdom day) at Mayyar in Hisar on September 13.

Addressing a press conference here, Dajleet Singh Panghal, Hisar district president of the Sangwan faction of AIJASS, said, “We have been holding ‘Shaheedi Diwas’ in the memory of Sunil Sheoran, a Jat youth who was killed in police firing at Mayyar on September 13, 2010, and other youths from the community who died later during various pro-quota protests.

Talking to HT, Panghal said, “During February this year, the administration did not allow us to sit on a dharna under the leadership of our Hawa Singh Sangwan. Now if the BJP government tries to stop us to observe Shaheedi Diwas, the protesters will fight back and the government will be responsible if anything goes wrong.”

He added, “The Jat community in the state will not allow even a single BJP leader to enter in any village of Haryana for their election campaign.”

Lashing out at AIJASS national leader Yashpal Malik and Kurukshetra MP Rajkumar Saini, Panghal said, “The government must register cases against both of them and arrest them. Saini is making comments against the Jat community. Yashpal Malik, who is a fake leader, is trying to divide the brotherhood and peace in Haryana.”
