THE SHO HAS A TAINTED PAST

-

PATIALA :With the issue of alleged torture of seven men at the Sanaur police station taking on a political tinge, SHO Gurinder Singh Ball, now under inquiry for lack of supervision, could see the spotlight shift to his past as an officer. A close look at his service record reveals a long list of allegations of illegal detentions, extortion, torture and even cases, where charges have been framed against him.

Even more shocking is that Harinderpal Singh Harry Mann, the Congress constituency in-charge, had also dealt with a file relating to Ball in his capacity as the state information commissioner. Strictures were passed against Ball for furnishing wrong information before a bench of RTI commissioners. The case related to Ball allegedly falsely implicating a man, Iqbal, during his tenure as Jagraon SHO.

In another case, charges were framed against the SHO for causing voluntary hurt to extort confession of Patiala’s Ajnauda Khurd man. Parvinder had alleged, “As Bhadson SHO, Ball detained me illegally and thrashed me on my naked body. I filed a criminal complaint that a court took cognizance of, and framed charges against Gurinder.”

As Samrala SHO, Ball is facing an illegal detention case. The matter is pending in high court that has sought an action taken report from the Khanna SSP. SSP Mandeep Singh said, “I have just got to know that the SHO is facing criminal charges. I have marked an inquiry and the guilty will be punished.”
