25YEAROLD MARRIED WOMAN HAD GONE OUT TO THE FIELDS TO ANSWER CALL OF NATURE WHEN THREE MEN RAPED HER

KARNAL: A 25-year-old hearing and speech-impaired married woman was allegedly gangraped by three people in a village of Yamunanagar district, police said on Sunday.

However, the victim was unable to disclose the identity of the accused as she was also illiterate, they said.

The incident took place on Friday evening (August 17), when the victim had gone out to the fields to answer the call of nature.

The accused, who were already present on the spot, allegedly raped her. She returned home and tried to narrate the incident to her family members in sign language but they could not understand. Later, her mother was called, who interpreted that she was raped by three people.

On Saturday, the victim’s family members filed a police complaint against unknown accused.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Chappar police station in-charge Ramesh Chand said, “On the basis of the complaint, we have registered an FIR against unknown accused under Section 376 D of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).”

He said the victim was unable to tell anything about the accused as she was illiterate, besides being hearing and speech-impaired.

“We are taking the help of sign language experts to get any clue about the accused,” he added.
