TWO AAP OFFICEBEARERS REMOVED IN AMRITSAR

-

AMRITSAR:TWO key officebearers of AAP’S Amritsar unit — Suresh Kumar Sharma (urban president) and Pargat Singh Chogawan (rural president) — who are supporting party’s rebel faction led by Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, were removed on Tuesday. The party has appointed Ashok Talwar and Surjit Singh Kang in their place.

In a release issued from Chandigarh office on Tuesday, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, party’s Majha zone in-charge, said the new appointments have been done after consulting Bhagwant Mann and Balbir Singh. Apart from them, around 50 more office-bearers have been appointed for the Majha region, he said.

Sharma and Chogawan had arranged a meeting of AAP volunteers here in support of Khaira. “We have been replaced for standing with the truth. We will continue to fight for Punjab,” said Sharma.

time when they have their convention. “We have not been informed about the meeting. As important issues, including the Ranjit Singh Commission report, are going to be discussed, they probably want to bail out the (Congress) government,” he claimed. On being reminded that the dissident camp had rejected Cheema’s appointment as the leader of opposition, Sandhu said he was just trying to draw attention to his (Cheema’s) real intention.

However, Cheema said he had informed all party MLAS about Wednesday’s meeting by posting a message in the group, just the way it was done earlier. “Their objection is baseless as the event mentioned by Sandhu is not a party programme,” he added.
