Jind college girl kills self, accuses friends of drugging, raping her

ROHTAK: A BA third-year student committed suicide by consuming poison in Bahadurgar­h village of Jind’s Safidon tehsil, police said on Thursday. The victim left a suicide note in which she accused her two male friends of drugging and raping her. She has also named a woman friend in the note and accused all three of blackmaili­ng her.

Based on her suicide note, the police have arrested accused Ravi, Balram and Poonam.

Police said Ravi and Balram had befriended the victim through Poonam and raped her in a hotel in March after drugging her. They also clicked her objectiona­ble pictures on their mobile phones and were raping her repeatedly from the past many months, threatenin­g to post her photos on the internet. Poonam was helping the accused in blackmaili­ng her, the police added.

The police said the victim consumed some poisonous substance at her home on Wednesday and was rushed to a private hospital by her parents. After primary treatment, she narrated the ordeal to her father and also told him about the suicide note she had left in a notebook.

Later, the victim’s condition then deteriorat­ed and she was referred to the PGIMS in Rohtak, where she died.

Safidon police station SHO Samarjeet Singh said they registered a case on on victim’s father’s statement on Thursday and arrested the accused. The police said Poonam belonged to victim’s village while Ravi was from Ritoli village and Balram was from Jamni village in Jind. They will be produced in court on Friday.
