STOP PROPAGANDA TO INDOCTRINATE YOUTH

-

Former J&K chief minister and National Conference (NC) patron Farooq Abdullah chanting the ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogans aloud during Eid celebrations was a bold act. However, his being heckled for it is condemnable. By doing so, the separatist group has violated the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, which strictly prohibits the desecration of or insult to the country’s honour. Any propaganda to indoctrinate youth into terrorism must be stopped before it is shaped into an unruly insurgency. They should remember that chanting a slogan is intended to show love for the country only.

Upant Sharma, Panchkula supply of drugs to Punjab. There are mafias in these states with national and international links. Drug peddlers, including foreigners, are nabbed almost every day but punishment is rarely handed out to them owing to our tedious judicial system. The need of the hour is to break the politician-smuggler-police nexus. Also, we must keep a check on the effectiveness of the police force which remains understaffed and ill-equipped when it comes to tackle the menace.

SK Khosla, Chandigarh that there is a dire need to control population growth. The demographic profile has a positive correlation with a nation’s economic development. Currently, the Indian economy is crippled by low literacy rate, unemployment and poverty. The resources are not only scarce as they have been overexploited. Before this growth destroys India’s prospects of being a superpower, it has to take strict population control measures like China or promote the use of renewable resources. Most importantly, the masses should be educated about the benefits of a smaller family.
