Jhinda removed as HSGMC chief
ROHTAK:MEMBERS of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) said that Jagdish Singh Jhinda has been removed from the post of the committee’s president.
“A decision to this effect was taken at an executive meeting of the committee held in Rohtak on Saturday,” said Chandeep Singh Khurana, the spokesperson of HSGMC. He said 28 out of 38 members of the committee participated in the meeting that decided for Jhinda’sremoval.
Khurana said that Jhinda had been taking advantage of his post at the committee to fulfil his vested political interests. In a statement issued by the HSGMC, the committee said they will elect a new president within 15 days.
Deedar Singh Nalvi, a senior member of the committee, stated that the affairs of the committee were being mismanaged for about four years, which needed to be rectified.
Another senior member, Karnail Singh, also accused Jhinda of using the committee to further his vested interests.
WILL MOVE HIGH COURT: JHINDA
Calling the meeting a ‘tea party’ Jhinda said that Saturday’s meeting was unconstitutional and did not have the requisite quorum. He said that only 14 out of the total 38 members attended the meeting, while as per the rule, at least 19 members must be present.
Jhinda further alleged that several false allegations were levelled against him during the meeting and he will file a defamation case in the high court against the committee members.
