No CCTV cameras, complaint box on premises: SIT head

HISAR:THE ongoing police investigat­ion in the sodomy cases reported at a school in Rohtak has revealed that the institute was functionin­g in a clear violation of the guidelines laid by the state government that had made it mandatory for schools in Haryana to have CCTV cameras covering the entire premises.

“The school did not have CCTV cameras, barring one at the entrance,” said DSP Narain Chand, who is heading the SIT formed in the case. He said the school authoritie­s had not installed any complaint boxes as well as per the directions of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

“We have so far arrested two persons, including a teacher, and detained six children. The children have been sent to observatio­n home in Hisar.
