UNADKAT HELPS INDIA BLUE SEIZE ADVANTAGE

DINDIGUL: Left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar’s five-wicket haul and Jaydev Unadkat’s four scalps helped India Blue secure a 104-run lead against India Blue on a truncated third day of the final Duleep Trophy league match on Friday, virtually sealing a spot in the final. Resuming at 151/4, India Green lost Gurkeerat Mann (20) and Harpreet Bhatia (3) quickly. Parthiv Patel (80) played brilliantl­y but his wicket signalled the end of India Green’s hopes as they were bowled out for 257 in response to India Blue’s 340. In reply, India Blue were 21/0 in their second innings when persistent rain forced early stumps.

Sanju Samson among eight fined for dissent

THIRUVANAN­THAPURAM: The Kerala Cricket Associatio­n (KCA) on Friday suspended five players and fined another eight for dissent against captain Sachin Baby. Sanju Samson is among the eight who have been fined. Those who have been suspended are R Gomez, S Warrier, R Prem, Asif K and M Azharuddee­n. Those who have been fined equivalent to three days BCCI match fee for one day matches are A Mohan, Akshay K C, F Farook Ahmed, Nidheesh M D, S Samson, S Nizar, S Joseph and V.A. Jagadeesh.

Afghanista­n see off Ireland to win series

BELFAST: Afghanista­n rode an unbeaten 57 from Ihsanullah and a three-wicket haul from ace spinner Rashid Khan to beat Ireland by eight wickets in the third ODI to win the three-match series 2-1 on Friday. Brief scores: Ireland 124 in 36.1 ovs (G Wilson 23, Rashid Khan 3/18, Md Nabi 2/26 ,A Alam 2/22, G Naib 2/34). Afghanista­n 127/2 in 23.5 ovs (Ihsanullah 57 n.o). Afghanista­n won by eight wickets.
