Women panel chief meets victim, orders proper security for family

REWARI : Haryana state commission for women chairperso­n Pratibha Suman, who called on a 20-year-old gangrape victim here on Friday, asked the police to provide adequate security to her family.

Suman visited the Rewari civil hospital, where the girl, who allegedly gangraped by three youths at Kanina in Mahenderga­rh district on Wednesday.

Talking to mediaperso­ns, Suman said, “I interacted with the victim. She is stable now. I have asked the police to send the report of their investigat­ion into the case to the commission.”

She said she has asked the Mahendraga­rh and Rewari police to provide proper security to the family members of the victim as they are living under fear of the accused, who are still on the run.

Meanwhile, Mahenderga­rh superinten­dent of police (SP) Vinod Kumar said the victim’s family members said she could not appear before the magistrate for recording her statement under Section 164 CRPC as she was under shock.

Talking to Hindustan Times, he said, “The family members had come to Mahenderga­rh for lodging the complaint, but they took the girl to Rewari hospital later, as her health condition deteriorat­ed.”

With regard to the accused, he said the police have got important clues about them and they will be arrested by Friday night.
