RELOOK THE DEFINITION OF A MINOR

Apropos ‘Class-7 student gangraped by minors in Uttarakhan­d (HT News, September 17)’, the utterly despicable act shows that women and girls are not safe in this country. It is even more numbing and shocking that minor boys indulged in this heinous crime. This raises questions on what kind of mentality are the young boys of this country growing up with? In recent times, there has been an alarming rise in rapes that minors commit. This merits a relook at the definition of a minor, as enshrined in our criminal laws.

Ishan Chauhan, professor Paul Love to the institute. Professor Love singlehand­edly transforme­d the institute into a hub for students for English literature. Under his guidance, the college reeled off a succession of gold medalists in the subject. The college has, certainly, lost its way a little since they passed away.

Arun Hadtir, Gurdaspur are acting irresponsi­bly, without realising that certain forces are taking advantage of the situation and fanning the fire at the protests that radical groups are holding. They are also attempting to outdo each other by holding rallies in each other’s bastion and creating confusion in the minds of all Punjabis. The governor’s office needs to intervene and calm things down. This fire of politics and rally for rally will do the state more harm than good.
