STOKES PICKED FOR ODI SERIES AGAINST SL
LONDON: Ben Stokes and Alex Hales on Wednesday were named in England’s ODI squad to tour Sri Lanka despite being charged with bringing cricket into disrepute. The pair face a disciplinary panel hearing in London in December following a brawl outside a nightclub in the southwestern city of Bristol in September 2017. Stokes was cleared of affray last month following a seven-day trial related to the incident. Hales was with his England teammate during the altercation but was not charged. England will play five ODIS against Sri Lanka, starting October 10.

Rodrigues helps India women take 1-0 lead
KATUNAYAKE, SRI LANKA: Jemimah Rodrigues and Poonam Yadav produced special performances to guide India to a 13-run win over Sri Lanka in the first T20 international of the five-match series on Wednesday. Rodrigues’ 36 off 15 balls and wicket-keeper Taniya Bhatia’s 46 off 35 propelled India to 168/8 in 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka remained in the hunt until leg-spinner Yadav’s breakthroughs took the game away from them as they were all out for 155 in 19.3 overs. Yadav ended with figures of 4/26. The second T20 will be played in Colombo on Friday.
Rajasthan Cricket Association dissolved
JAIPUR: Ahead of Assembly elections, the government has dissolved the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), removing veteran Congress president CP Joshi as its chief, making the other camp of former RCA president Lalit Modi stronger. The working committee was also dissolved on Tuesday night and there shall be fresh elections within the next three months, RCA secretary RS Nandu said.
