POLITICS OVER KARTAPUR CORRIDOR

-

The Kartarpur gurdwara corridor issue has become a topic of discussion and controversy in Punjab between the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). What is shocking is that we are forgetting our gurus’ message of love and fraternity in pursuit of our selfish motives. Our treacherous neighbours across the border must be laughing because their ambiguous offer has put our leaders at each other’s throat so easily.

Tarsem Singh, Mahilpur superannuation. Delay in processing the file means the Haryana administration is in a deep slumber. Similar conditions also prevail in the case of Punjab and Maharashtra DGPS.

Jagdish Singh Jassal,

Patiala realise that the state suffered much due to exploitation of religious sentiments. It’s time not to play the same old sinister game. Religious matters should be left to the managements who run such institutions. Communal harmony must be preserved at all cost. Jatinder Bir Singh

Nanda, Ludhiana hostile neighbour. Even more shocking is the Indian security establishment’s silence on this brutality which is sure to cast a shadow on the already tense India-pakistan relationship. It’s a wake-up for India to take counter-action to deter Pakistan from such misadventures and keep up the morale of our defence personnel on the border.

Anika Sharma, Kharar person. These must be allowed only during election campaigning. The recent SAD rallies have done no good for Punjab with the overarching purpose being to pull down opponents and woo voters. The government can highlight its welfare schemes, if any, through the media. People are wise enough to assess things and whether or not the benefit is passing on to them. We need a cost-effective way of political mobilisation.

Jaswant Singh,
