Apropos ‘The Monday Interview (HT Page 6, September 24)’, former chief minister Omar Abdullah has actually reflected the failure of politicians of Jammu and Kashmir. Even as they enjoy the fruits of special status of the very sensitive border state, they expect the Centre to give them huge packages. Meant for development, these funds are then siphoned off and never used for public good. This is the main cause of disgruntlement of the youth and the residents of the state. The present generation of politicians must change and serve people.

To usher in better scale-efficiency, higher productivity, robust financial health of RRBS, improved financial inclusion and greater credit flow to rural areas are ambitious targets. All this requires monitoring on a daily basis, which is sadly missing at all levels of operation in the Indian economy. To provide credit and other facilities to small farmers, agricultural labourers and artisans need a boost.
