New accuser says she saw abuses by Kavanaugh

-

WASHINGTON: A woman said on Wednesday she had witnessed sexually abusive behaviour by Brett Kavanaugh and that she was gang-raped at a party in 1982 attended by the US Supreme Court nominee.

Her statement was released by her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, the attorney for porn star Stormy Daniels, who has claimed to have had a sexual encounter with Donald Trump.

The woman’s statement said the events took place at parties she attended while a high school student in suburban Maryland. She said she saw Kavanaugh “drink excessively” and “engage in abusive and physically aggressive behaviour towards girls” that included “fondling and grabbing of girls without their consent.”

She said she was raped at a party in approximately 1982 at which Kavanaugh was present.

Avenatti said he has submitted her sworn statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will hold a high-stakes hearing on the accusations on Thursday.

FIRST ACCUSER OFFERS STATEMENTS TO BACK HER STORY

Lawyers for a professor in California — the first woman to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual assault — released signed documents from her husband and three friends ahead of the hearing on Thursday.

The professor’s husband said his wife shared her story during a couples therapy session in 2012.

“I remember her saying that the attacker’s name was Brett Kavanaugh, that he was a successful lawyer who had grown up in her home town, and that he was well-known in the Washington community,” he said.

A long-time friend said that in 2016, the professor told her that as a high school student she was sexually assaulted by a boy who became a federal judge in Washington.

Before Trump nominated Kavanaugh in July, the professor and her friend had an email exchange in which she said she had been referring to Kavanaugh, he said.

Two other friends said the professor had made similar remarks to them, in 2013 and 2017 respectively.
