1st motive is to defeat NDA, PM can be decided in 3 days: Sharad Yadav
Agar chehra pehle bata diya to yeh log chehre ko bigaad denge, (If we announce the PM face in advance, they will tarnish it). SHARAD YADAV, Loktantrik Janta Dal patron
KARNAL: Loktantrik Janta Dal (LJD) patron Sharad Yadav on Sunday said the first motive of ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (grand alliance) is to ensure the defeat of the Bjp-led NDA in the coming Lok Sabha polls and the issue of prime minister will be easily decided after the elections.
“The decision on who will be the prime minister will be taken within three days after the elections,” said Yadav, who was in Karnal to address a meeting of his party workers. “Agar chehra pehle bata diya, to yeh log chehre ko bigaad denge, (If we announce the PM face in advance, they will tarnish it),”, he said, in response to a media query as to who will be the Mahagathbandhan’s prime ministerial candidate.
“This happened thrice in the political history of India that an alliance has decided its prime minister after the elections,” he said. Yadav, who was once the president of Janata Dal (United), had quit the party when his erstwhile colleague and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar formed an alliance with NDA while discarding his tie-up with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress.
About the future of Mahagathbandhan, he said, “We are not one organisation but several likeminded parties and leaders are coming together for next elections.”he said the BJP had come to power as its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had made tall promises but he did not keep any of these, including remunerative prices for farm produce, jobs to unemployed youth and cleaning of the Ganga. “They (BJP leaders) had come from Ganga and now they will be sent back into Ganga,” he added. Yadav also accused the BJP of dividing people on the basis of religion and caste.
“Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar should have gone to the gurdwara also if he had gone to a temple in a (Karnal) village. He was not elected for the (people of) religion. This shows how the BJP is dividing people”, he said reacting to the controversy over Khattar cancelling his visit to a gurdwara in Karnal’s Dachar village. Replying to a question, he said his party will support the Congress in Haryana as it was in the driving seat in the state. “We we will support the Congress in the coming elections, but it is the responsibility of the Congress to take all people along,” he added.
