KHATTAR DEDICATES AWARD TO PEOPLE OF HARYANA

KARNAL: Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday dedicated the number-1 state award bagged by Haryana in the field of sanitation and cleanlines­s under Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2018 to the people of the state.

The CM, who conducted a ‘Jansampark Padyatra’ in the villages of his Karnal constituen­cy on the occasion of the birth anniversar­y of Mahatma Gandhi, said people have contribute­d to the ‘Swachh Haryana-swachh Bharat’ campaign, which helped the state bag this prestigiou­s award. In terms of sanitation, he said, Haryana’s performanc­e was rated at 32% in 2014, which has now reached 95% now.

Khattar, who earlier paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in Karnal, said that maintainin­g cleanlines­s was the real tribute to the father of the nation.

During his visit to the villages of Kachwa, Kalampura, Pundrak and Ratangarh villages of his constituen­cy, the chief minister said the state government has no dearth of funds for developmen­t works.

He said more than 4,000 police personnel have been recruited by his government in a transparen­t manner and 7,000 more would be recruited in the next two months.

As per the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) website,

the Union ministry of drinking water and sanitation has commission­ed this survey to develop ranking of all districts of India on the basis of quantitati­ve and qualitativ­e sanitation (Swachhata) parameters.
