Homebuyers want Dwarka e-way transferred to NHAI
GURUGRAM: Homebuyers in projects along the Dwarka Expressway, expressing unhappiness over the delay in getting possession of their flats, have asked officials of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to expedite transfer of the main carriageway to the highways authority.
Homebuyers said that the delay in completing works pertaining to the expressway has held up the housing projects, as many plots were in litigation and it had also delayed installation of basic infrastructure such as sewer and water lines.
The Dwarka Expressway or the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) is already running five to six years behind schedule, due to delays in resolving various land litigations by the local authorities.
The homebuyers, under the umbrella of Dxp welfare association, held a meeting on Sunday to discuss the issue.
There are about 150 projects along the expressway, in which partial possession has been given in 50 projects by the developers.
To complete the project, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has to award the work of constructing an elevated road on the expressway.
Homebuyers said that the GMDA is yet to transfer the carriageway to the NHAI and they do not know the reason for the delay.
“We met Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) administrator Chander Shekhar Khare on Monday. We did not know that the HSVP had transferred the carriageway to GMDA in July and now, the GMDA has to transfer it to the NHAI,” said Gaurav Prakash, a member of the Dxp welfare association, adding that association has sought an appointment with GMDA CEO V Umashankar.
“We fail to understand the reason for the delay when all land litigations on the expressway are over,” Umashankar added.
DELAY IN COMPLETION OF THE EWAY HAS HELD UP WORK ON BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE SUCH AS WATER AND SEWAGE IN UPCOMING PROJECTS
