JUNAID, 16, WAS STABBED TO DEATH WHEN HE ALONG WITH HIS BROTHERS WAS RETURNING HOME TO KHANDAWLI VILLAGE AFTER EID SHOPPING IN DELHI ON JUNE 22

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday granted interim bail to the main accused in the Junaid Khan lynching case.

The order in this regard was passed by the high court bench of justice Daya Chaudhary on the plea of accused Naresh Kumar, who had approached the high court in August this year.

The detailed order in the case is awaited.

However, the lawyers associated with the case said the accused will be on bail pending proceedings in the Supreme Court, which has stayed the ongoing trial before a Faridabad court.

With this, all the accused in the case are now out on bail.

He had challenged June 2018 order of the district court, Faridabad, arguing that he had remained in jail for more than one year and should be granted bail.

Sixteen-year-old Junaid was stabbed to death when he along with his brothers was returning home at Khandawli village after Eid shopping in Delhi aboard a Mathura-bound train on June 22 this year.

His body was dumped close to Asaoti village in Faridabad district.

Two persons — Naresh Kumar and Rameshwar Dass — have been charged with murder and four other accused are facing allegations of voluntarily causing hurt, among other sections.
