KARNAL : BJP’S Assandh MLA Bakshish Singh Virk said on Friday that Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar will visit the gurdwara Raj Karega Khalsa at Dachar village of Karnal after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally on October 9 in Garhi-sampla of Rohtak district.

However, he did not make whether the chief minister has agreed to visit the gurdwara despite the portrait of Khalistan ideologue Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale installed in the gurdwara.

Earlier on Thursday, in a press statement issued by the public relations department, it was mentioned that the CM would not visit any gurudwara that has the photo of Bhindranwale and that no action would be done that would disturb the situation in Haryana

Virk, who led a delegation of Sikhs and met the chief minister in Chandigarh on Thursday, said, “The chief minister said that he would visit the gurdwara as he respects the Sikh shrines and the community.”

“The chief minister did not give any date but said that he was busy for the engagements of the Prime Minister’s rally and would visit the gurdwara after October 9,” he added.

He, however, condemned the news in newspapers and press statement issued by the Haryana public relations department from Chandigarh.

“The statement was misquoted and action should be taken against the officials, who sent the statement to media,” he said.

Also, BJP’S Karnal district president Jagmohan Anand said that the chief minister told the 15 member delegation of the Sikhs that he did not have any problem in paying obeisance at the gurdwara, he added.

However, members of the Sikh community have called their meeting on October 6 in Karnal to decide further strategy.

“The meeting is scheduled to take place in Karnal and there was no decision to remove Bhindrawale’s portrait,” said Janpal Singh, president of Dachar Gurdwara committee.

There were also reports that portraits of Bhindranwale were installed at Gurdwara Kar Sewa in Karnal, where the meeting was scheduled for Saturday.
