REDUCE FUEL PRICES

-

The Congress government’s decision in Punjab not to match the cut on VAT on fuel rates in Bjp-ruled states will hit the common man. High fuel prices have a cascading impact on all other commodities. It has become a strategy of all ruling parties to appease only their vote banks like farmers, and let the other segments of society suffer. Freebies in power and water are given, but they, ultimately have to be accounted for. Why can’t the government take to austerity by reducing perks of their hordes of ministers and tighten its purse strings. As a first step, we need to stop unlimited free fuel to all MLAS and other VIPS. The NDA government is, of course, indulging in injustice by not bringing fuel prices under the GST. For the common man, the need of the hour is a cut in fuel prices.

roads are indeed a death trap as they see 1.5 lakh fatalities a year. What is even more shocking is that 74,000 (around 50%) of those who die are between the ages of 15 and 25. Even as roads are being widened, the potholes on these are a matter of grave concern and cause deaths. It is within the ambit of the government’s responsibility to ensure that roads are safe as well. The country must not forget such needless deaths that continue to plague our emerging economy and the future super power.

Aadil Bhat, Chandigarh significance is so poor that it hurts to visit them. The enthusiasm and the desire to observe and enjoy these wonderful markers of history vanishes when you actually see these. There is a strong need to start preserving our monuments. Strict action should be taken against anyone trying to deface these buildings. There is an urgent need to safeguard and protect ancient buildings. It should always have been the foremost priority of the Indian government to protect these buildings and also a duty of the citizens to maintain these even without anyone telling them to.

Hasrat Bhardwaj, Bathinda not shy of spending extravagantly on electioneering by holding mega rallies but, laughably, claim to work for the cause of the poor. They deface cities by pasting posters on every available wall and littering the streets with leaflets, banners, flags etc and, along with this, boast about their commitment to the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. The longer the parties are allowed to campaign, the greater chances there are of them being able to exercise undue influence on voters. It is also a given that during this period, governance takes a hit. The shorter the time available for campaigning, the better it is from all angles.

HL Sharma, Amritsar biology and physiology as goddesses in the form of Durga and Mata Vaishno Devi. So, this double standard was unacceptable. How can temple managers decide not to allow women entry? These managers are not wise enough to make rules on the behalf of the gods.
