CASH COLLECTION AGENCY STAFF INJURED, ROBBED OF ₹10 LAKH

LUDHIANA: Three armed motorcycle-borne miscreants robbed two employees of a cash collecting agency of ₹10 lakh cash after opening fire at them near Octroi Post on Ludhiana-ferozepur road on Tuesday night. The robbed agency manages cash for online shopping site Amazon.

Both the employees have suffered injuries on their legs and were rushed to the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where their condition was declared stable. They were identified as Manpreet Singh and Karan Kumar.

Following the incident, senior police officials reached the spot and initiated investigat­ion.

On Tuesday night, the duo had reached at the godown of Amazon.in and collected the cash. Following this, they were riding a bike and were about to reach the main Ferozepur road, when three miscreants intercepte­d them. The miscreants attacked the duo and escaped with the cash.

Assistant commission­er of police (ACP West) Gurpreet Singh said the robbers were waiting for the victims. They tried to snatch the cash bag, however, Karan and Manpreet resisted. Following this, the accused opened fire at them and fled with the cash. The ACP added that police have recovered a toy pistol from the spot. Police are scanning CCTVS footages to identify the accused. The ACP said that they will register a case against the unidentifi­ed miscreants after recording statements of the victims.
