Miscreants loot ₹6 lakh from finance company employee

Duo waylaid the victim Subash Kumar while he was on his way to deposit the cash in a bank

AMRITSAR: Two unidentifi­ed bikeborne men snatched a bag containing ₹6 lakh from an employee of a finance management company (Logicash) at the Mall Road, here on Tuesday morning.

The victim, Subash Kumar, 40, of Majitha road sustained minor injuries during the incident, said police.subash was on his way from his office at Deep Complex to ICICI bank’s Mall Road branch to deposit cash when the incident took place.

Subash said, “On Tuesday morning, I collected cash from different establishm­ents of Amritsar and went to my office. At around 9:30 pm, I left the office to deposit over ₹ 6 lakh to ICICI bank.”

“When I reached opposite Narula Palace at the Mall Road, two unidentifi­ed bike-borne men waylaid me and snatched my bag. I tried to put up a fight but to no avail and the miscreants snatched the bag and fled away. In the meantime, I fell from my motorcycle and got hurt,” he said.

Few passers-by tried to chase the miscreants but they managed to flee, he said, adding they rushed me to civil hospital Amritsar.

Soon after getting informatio­n about the incident, assistant commission­er of police (Acpnorth) Sarabjit Singh, station house officer (SHO), Civil Line police station Shivdarsha­n Singh and in-charge of Circuit House police post Nishan Singh, along with a police team and started investigat­ion.

Nishan Singh said, “We are examining the footage of closed circuit television­s (CCTVS) installed in the area where the incident took place. Through a CCTV grab, we came to know that one of the miscreants had covered his face.the accused will be arrested soon.”

He said a case under Section 379 B (snatching by force) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against two unidentifi­ed men at the Civil Line police station.

GOVT LOOKING AT TIME-BOUND ACTION

Taking cognisance of newspaper reports on the issue, the government said it was looking for time-bound action by respective agencies.
