Gurugram blaze: Condition of victim’s mother deteriorat­es

GURUGRAM: The condition of mother of the 33-year-old victim of Tulip Orange society fire in Sector 69 worsened on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, residents of Tower B 6, which caught fire, remained without electricit­y since 2.15 am on Monday and were staying at their friends and relatives’ place.

“The condition of Swati’s mother, Vaishali, has worsened. She was put on a ventilator last night and had a sudden cardiac arrest around 3 pm today. Thankfully, doctors were able to revive her, and since then, she has been on a ventilator in the ICU,” said Aashish K Sharma, a resident of Tulip Orange society, who is close to the family, and had taken Vaishali to the Park Hospital in Sector 47, on Monday morning.

“She is diabetic, asthmatic and also suffers from high blood pressure. Apart from suffering from minor burn injuries, she also faced several complicati­ons due to the smoke, and has been having respirator­y problems,” said Aashish.

Swati Garg, an interior designer, died after a fire broke out in the electrical metre of tower B6 on the ground floor, spreading upwards through the electrical shaft, and engulfing the staircase area in smoke in the process. Firefighte­rs found her lying unconsciou­s near the terrace door almost an hour after the blaze started. Her body’s postmortem was conducted on Monday afternoon, and her body handed over to the family.the tower has been without power since the fire broke out.
