Property dealer shot dead in Panipat, partner booked

VICTIM’S BROTHER SAID ACCUSED HAD DISPUTE OVER SHARING OF MONEY EARNED THROUGH SALE OF A PROPERTY 25 DAYS AGO

KARNAL: A 35-year-old property dealer was shot dead by a group of assailants in Sector 25 of Panipat city on Tuesday evening, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil Kumar of Padha village of Karnal, who was living in a rented house in Panipat.

Police said the deceased sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on way to a hospital in Delhi.

On the complaint of Surender Singh, brother of the deceased, the police have booked three people, including Sultan Singh, who was a business partner of the victim, his brother Ritesh and nephew Sonu under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.

In his complaint, Surender told the police that the victim and the accused had sold a property at Gannaur in Sonepat district around 25 days ago and they had dispute over the sharing of the profits earned through the deal.

On Tuesday evening, accused Sultan had called Sunil at a house in Vasant Kunj area. Vishal alleged that he later noticed his brother’s car near a liquor shop and when he went closer, he saw his brother lying with multiple bullet injuries.

He alleged that Sultan and his two associates, Sonu and Ritesh, fled the spot soon after he reached there.

Vishal said that before dying Sunil had told him that Sultan, Sonu and Ritesh fired several rounds at him.

He said he took his brother to a hospital in Panipat and the doctors referred him to Delhi, but he died on way to the hospital.

When contacted, Panipat’s Chandni Bagh police station in-charge Naveen Kumar said the investigat­ions are on and no arrests have been made so far.
