21-year-old arrested for sexually assaulting minor in Gurugram

GURUGRAM : The police arrested a 21-year-old executive of a multinatio­nal firm for allegedly sexually assaulting a student of class 11 and blackmaili­ng her by threatenin­g to share an obscene video clip of hers on social media.

The accused was arrested from his house in Sector 4 on Tuesday night, following a complaint by the 16-year-old’s father.

He was produced in the court on Wednesday and sent to 14-day judicial custody.

“The accused had been a student of the same school as the girl; her parents said he used to stalk her and harass her even then. He had forcefully befriended her in school and later starting taking her out. He often asked the girl to meet him outside late in the evenings,” Sumit Kuhar, deputy commission­er of police (crime), said. The accused raped her multiple times in school over the last three years and at different locations, the girl told the police in her complaint.

The girl’s father told the police that they had complained to the police against the accused twice in 2016 and 2017 for stalking and harassing her, but he was let off after he and his family had apologised and promised to stay away from her. He had earlier also given her a mobile phone which they had returned to him after the girl informed her family about it. accused gifted the girl a mobile phone again last month.
