12 DRUG PED­DLERS HELD IN 24 HOURS

AM­RIT­SAR/TARNTARAN: Con­tin­u­ing its crack­down on drug ped­dlers, the po­lice of Am­rit­sar and Tarn Taran dis­tricts have ar­rested as many as 12 per­sons and re­cov­ered over 18,000 drug tablets, cap­sules, and 5 gm heroin from their pos­ses­sion in last 24 hours.

Tarn Taran dis­trict po­lice have ar­rested two per­sons, in­clud­ing a ‘fake doc­tor’ with 16,800 in­tox­i­cated drug pills and Am­rit­sar dis­trict po­lice nabbed 10 ac­cused re­cov­er­ing around 1,000 drug tablets, and 5 gm heroin.

Tarn Taran se­nior su­per­in­ten­dent of po­lice (SSP) Dar­shan Singh Mann said a team of crime in­ves­ti­ga­tion agency (CIA) led by as­sis­tant sub-in­spec­tor (ASI) Narinder Singh was pa­trolling in Saido vil­lage.

“The po­lice team got a tip-off that one Bhag­wan Singh of Jodh Singh Wala, a fake doc­tor, has been sell­ing drug tablets from his house. Af­ter get­ting the in­for­ma­tion, the team con­ducted a search at Bhag­wan’s home and seized 12,000 tablets of Tra­madol, 4,800 tablets of Al­pra­zo­lam, fol­low­ing which Bhag­wan was ar­rested,” said Mann.

He said the cops are in­ves­ti­gat­ing from where the ac­cused pur­chased the drug medicines and his cus­tomers.

In an­other case, ASI Kuldeep Singh of Chab­hal po­lice sta­tion ar­rested Ka­bal Singh aka Kabi of Pan­jwar vil­lage dur­ing pa­trolling and re­cov­ered 730 tablets from his pos­ses­sion.

Sim­i­larly, ASI Lakhbir Singh of C-di­vi­sion po­lice sta­tion ar­rested Karan Ku­mar aka Monu of Bhi­hi­wind Mo­hala with 150 tablets and ASI Vi­jay Ku­mar of A-di­vi­sion po­lice sta­tion ar­rested Monu Bha­tia and Baksh of Ghee Mandi with 126 and 100 tablets, re­spec­tively.

The other ac­cused per­sons are Sukhwinder Singh of Udey­nan­gal ar­rested with 65 tablets, Man­jit Singh of Tola Nan­gal ar­rested with 4 gm heroin, Sha­ran­jit Singh of Jabowal with 80 pills, Raj Ku­mar of Theere­wal with 40 drug tablets.
