THE SILENCE BREAKERS

-

Bravo to the “Silence Breakers,” who’ve bravely challenged the norm and thus paved the way for others to come forward and speak their truth about sexual harassment at the workplace. This declaration of freedom from oppression has given a voice to women and is a huge moment in history. But, in the glory and glitz of this moment, we must not lose sight of the millions of women who simply will not report, cannot come forward, or have too much to lose in declaring “me, too.” Those of us who can, have the responsibility to seek justice for all targets of all oppressions.

Guneet Kaur

and his wife Kiran, have come forward boldly to support the #Metoomovement. In a patriarchal society like India, it takes tremendous courage for women to come forward to bare the pain, which unfortunately is associated with shame not for the perpetrator, but the hapless victim. All should lend support to the movement.

Aswant Kaur, Amritsar have resented such moves, there and then, so that the evil would have been nipped in the bud and such a move would have saved a lot of future budding acting divas, from exploitation. Raising the issue now has dented the image of both the accuser, as well as the accused and the matter may not reach any conclusion because bringing evidence after decades may be a hindrance.

Arvinder Kaur, Mohali its relevance and credibility among masses.
