JAMMU: THREE KILLED, TWO INJURED IN ROAD ACCIDENTS

JAMMU: : Three people were killed while two others were injured in two separate road accidents in Jammu region on Tuesday.

Two persons were killed and two others sustained serious injuries after two bikes collided head-on at the Jammu-pathankot National Highway near Hiranagar in Kathua district.

Police said around 10:30am two bikes collided at Jandi, few kilometers short of Hiranagar town.

Soon after the incident, all the four persons were taken to Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu. The doctors declared Puran Chand, 45, of Merheen brought dead while Avinash, 25, of Hiranagar succumbed to his injuries later in the day. The other two continues to remain critical.

Police said it is unclear how the accident actually happened and have initiated the investigat­ion after registerin­g the case.

In another incident, a speeding mini-bus mowed down a pedestrian at Kank near Ban Talab on Tuesday morning.

Police said around 9am, Jagdish Chander, 50, was hit from behind by a mini-bus killing him on the spot. The driver fled from the spot, leaving the vehicle behind.

Police, after registerin­g the case, has launched a manhunt to nab the driver.
