He added, “We suspected from the beginning that it was an act carried out by terrorists with active involvement of Pak Rangers.”

The IG added: “In the past too, the Rangers were directly involved in perpetrating such dastardly attacks on BSF men on the borders. The act shows their criminal intent towards India and our brave border guards.”

On September 18, head constable Narendra Kumar, who was part of a four-member team, was ambushed, abducted, taken to the other side of the international border and then tortured to death .

His throat was slit and eyes were gouged out.

After nine hours of searches, his mutilated body was found near the International border in Ramgarh. He belonged to Sonepat in Haryana.

Appalled by Kumar’s brutal killing, India cancelled a planned meeting between external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Pakistan foreign minister on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York.
