Uncle arrested for raping 10-year-old

NEW DELHI: A 10-year-old girl suffered injuries to her private parts after she was raped allegedly by her 35-year-old uncle at her home in east Delhi’s Shakarpur on Saturday night.

The girl was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Sunday morning when her health condition deteriorat­ed, police said.

The incident took place when the girl was alone at home and her parents, who work as labourers, were out for work.

“Finding her alone, he forced himself on the girl. He threatened to kill her and her family if she informed anybody about it. When the girl’s parents reached home, the accused panicked and left, saying he had some urgent work to finish and would return soon,” said a police officer.

On Sunday morning, the girl complained about pain in her lower abdomen to her mother, who found her bleeding and panicked. The parents called the police and the man was arrested later. The girl’s medical examinatio­n confirmed rape, the police said. A case under the relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act was registered. JAMMU : Curfew continued in Kishtwar for the fourth day following the killing of BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit on Thursday.

Kishtwar district magistrate Angrez Singh Rana said, “We gave four-hour relaxation in two phases in different parts of the town that passed off peacefully. ”

Rana said there was no untoward incident during the relaxation.

The relaxation was given from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and then 3pm to 5pm in different parts of the Kishtwar town.
