AJAY HAS INVITED PARTY MEMBERS AND SENIOR LEADERS TO STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING CONVENED BY HIM AT JIND ON NOV 17

CHANDIGARH: Two days after leader of opposition in Haryana assembly Abhay Chautala called a meeting of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) MLAS and others party leaders, his estranged elder brother Ajay Chautala, who is party’s secretary general, on Monday wrote to all INLD members and senior leaders to attend the state executive committee meeting convened by him at Jind on November 17.

The meeting has been convened amid no signs of reconciliation between the two sparring factions of the party.

As expected, the INLD has termed the meeting convened by Ajay as “unconstitutional”.

Party spokesperson Praveen Atri told newspersons here that according to the INLD constitution, only national president or the state president or anyone authorised by the former could convene such a meeting.

“The executive committee meeting convened by Ajay Chautala is thus unconstitutional,” he added.

The invite sent by Ajay Chautala is addressed to all the executive committee office-holders, members, special invitees, MPS, MLAS, former MPS and ex-mlas, besides party district units and cell heads.

The two camps in the INLD are currently squabbling over the control on the party.

The raging infighting was triggered by the November 2 expulsion of Ajay’s both sons, Dushyant, who is Hisar MP, and Digvijay, who was the president of the party’s student wing Indian National Students’ Organisation (INSO) .

They were expelled from the party on charges of hooliganism and spreading disaffection within the party during the 105th birth anniversary celebrations of their great-grandfather and former deputy prime minister late Devi Lal at Gohana in Sonepat district on October 7.

Ajay, who is serving a ten-year sentence in the JBT recruitment case along with his father and former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, and is currently on two-week parole, is critical of the action against his sons.

Ajay’s wife Naina, who is MLA from Dabwali, too has been vocal in her criticism against the expulsion of her sons.

Though none of them has so far named Abhay Chautala, their remarks on different occasions are being seen as a veiled attack on him
