Gang of thieves busted, three arrested

AMRITSAR : Police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves with the arrest of three persons involved in stealing motorcycles, mobile phones and cameras from Narayangarh area. Police recovered six bikes, 10 mobile phones and two cameras from accused.
The accused have been identified as Arunjeet Singh alias Money of Narayangarh, Manmeet Singh alias Vijay and Money alias Nau of Chhiharta in Amritsar. Assistant commissioner of police (Acp-west) Vishaljeet Singh said a police tram led by station house officer of Chhiharta Harish Behal had laid a barricading at India Gate. “During the nakabandi, the SHO received a tip-off that accused had made a gang of thieves who were involved in stealing bikes, mobiles and cameras. The informer also told that police trio were present in Narayangarh area in search of a customer for selling stolen mobiles,” he said.
He said soon after getting the information, the police team conducted a raid and arrested the accused with 10 stolen mobiles.
He said, “While interrogation, we have also seized six bikes and two cameras at the instance of the accused.”
He said a case has been registered against accused under Section 379 (theft), 379 -B (theft by force), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Chhiharta police station.
