DON’T TRY TO GET POLITICAL MILEAGE

Both the Indian and Pakistani government­s deserve praise for approving to build the longawaite­d demand to build corridor to Kartarpur in Pakistan. Not only the Sikh community, but all Indians have welcomed the move. No party or individual should try to get political mileage out of such a project. Everyone should take it as the blessings of Guru Nanak and wish that the project sails though without any impediment.

Mohali urged immediate reforms in the Indian Police Service (IPS) since there is rampant corruption in it besides its susceptibi­lity to political influence. Political parties talk of police reforms at the time of elections and later use the same force to settle scores. Sood talks about a last year’s survey which found police force the most corrupt body in the country. Corruption is strongly linked to justice, which is denied to the people. As police play a vital role in our justice system, it is desired that their conduct should be above board.
